Which 2024 Chevy Colorado Trim is Perfect for You?

That’s a great question and one that’s probably simpler to answer than you might expect because Chevy makes it easy for you to get everything you’re looking for. As long as you know what you want in any Chevy Colorado for sale that you’re checking out, then you can make sure it has what you need, and you’re good. 

That said, it can still be a bit tricky to understand what each trim level offers, especially if you’re trying to handle all of the research while shopping for a truck on your own. That’s why we’re here at Rusty Wallace Chevrolet to help and answer all of your questions; today, we thought it would make things even easier for you if we go through the trims available for the 2024 Colorado and see what each one has to offer.

The WT: Awesome Starting Features

This is the entry point for the Chevy Colorado, so there’s no better place to start, as it gives us the foundation that the other trims build upon. The 2024 Colorado WT comes with a 2.7L Turbo engine that delivers 237 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque, and it’s paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. If you’re looking for boosted performance, then there’s an impressive TurboMax engine available that delivers 310 hp and 430 lb-ft of torque. This is the same TurboMax powertrain found on the Silverado 1500, and it’s our pick for the Colorado.

Standard features on the Colorado WT include 17-inch wheels, a CornerStep rear bumper, and halogen headlamps. You’ll find power-adjustable side mirrors here with black caps and black door and tailgate handles. Inside, the WT includes a number of impressive features, such as an 11.3-inch infotainment touchscreen with Google Built-In, as well as an 11-inch Driver Information Center. A six-speaker sound system is standard, along with cloth seating, remote keyless entry, and single-zone climate control. You even get the Chevy Safety Assist suite of driver assistance features like a Forward Collision Alert and Automatic Emergency Braking included with the WT, making this a great daily driver.

The LT: More and Improved Amenities

Moving up to the LT trim, we find a number of enhancements and upgrades to take your drive each day to the next level. This one has the same standard and available engines, though we’ve heard the TurboMax powertrain will be standard for the 2025 Colorado LT. You’ll find 17-inch wheels on this model, plus it has body-color door handles and painted mirror caps for an added touch of style. A remote locking tailgate makes it easy to keep items in the bed of your truck more secure, while black off-road assist steps are available (not offered on the WT).

Looking inside, we find some enhanced functionality and style thanks to details like a wrapped steering wheel, power windows with express-up/down for the driver’s side, and remote start functionality. Front and rear carpeted floor mats are included with the LT, along with rear air vents to keep your passengers more comfortable, a versatile front console, and dual reading lights inside. You also get access to a number of available options not offered on the WT like a wireless charging pad, Bose sound system, and heated front seats.

The Trail Boss: Excellent Off-Roading

If you’re interested in taking your midsize truck off-road, then the Trail Boss trim is where you should start. This beauty comes with the TurboMax engine, standard, along with 18-inch high-gloss black wheels wrapped in 32-inch all-terrain tires for excellent traction. The Trail Boss comes with four-wheel drive and an Autotrac two-speed transfer case with push-button controls for different driving situations, along with an automatic locking rear differential to help keep you in control in rough conditions.

This trim also comes with a factory-installed two-inch suspension lift and a three-inch widened stance for added stability. Interior features are generally comparable to those of the LT, so this trim is all about taking you further when you leave the comforts of pavement behind.

The Z71: Heightening All Attributes

Moving up to the Z71, we find the pinnacle trim level for comfort—so if you want advanced luxury for driving around town, then this one’s for you. It has bold 18-inch wheels and comes with 4WD, so it’s a good choice for going camping and handling other casual trails, but the lack of a lifted off-road suspension should be noted. This trim includes LED projector headlamps and daytime running lamps, plus LED fog lamps, LED tail lamps, and heated outside mirrors. 

Inside, the Z71 shows off with a number of great upgrades, including cloth/Evotex seating that looks and feels great (a gorgeous Jet Black/Adrenaline Red upholstery is available), and you get cruise control to make driving each day easier. We’ve heard that the 2025 Colorado Z71 will include the Advanced Trailering package that’s available on the 2024 model, which includes an in-vehicle trailering app to make towing easier.

The ZR2: Unparalleled Off-Roading

If you want to go off-road in total style and comfort, then you need to check out the ZR2 trim. You get 17-inch Graphite and Oxide Gold aluminum wheels on this model, wrapped in 33-inch OD Multi-Terrain tires for ultimate control. The star of the show is the ZR2 Off-Road package, which comes installed from the assembly line, granting a three-inch factory-lifted high-performance suspension, DSSV Multimatic dampers, and an off-road front fascia, rear bumper, and fender flares.

The ZR2’s rear gate comes with an EZ Lift-and-Lower feature, which makes getting to your truck bed simple, compounding with the StowFlex tailgate, which grants extra storage inside the gate itself. Inside, you get an eight-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with heated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. Extra features like memory settings for the driver’s seat, ventilated front seats, wireless device charging, and a Bose premium sound system are also available. We’ve heard the ventilated front seats and wireless charger could be standard for the 2025 Colorado ZR2. 

You can take things to the next level with the available ZR2 Bison Edition, which has been developed in partnership with American Expedition Vehicles; this variant includes a stamped-steel front skid plate, front and rear stamped-steel bumpers, 35-inch tires, and more incredible features to take your off-road adventures further.

Which Colorado Trim Has What You’re Looking For?

As you can see, figuring out which Colorado trim is right for you comes down to understanding what you need in your next truck and seeing which trim most aligns. The WT is a great place to start, but the LT gives you more available options and some upgrades to improve your time on the road. The Trail Boss should be your starting point if you’re looking to take your midsize pickup off-road, while the Z71 gives you enhanced overall features with more remarkable improvements available—though it’s not as capable of tackling challenging trails. If you want to conquer any path while also enjoying lush features, then the ZR2 is for you. 

As we mentioned, some notable improvements are coming for the 2025 Colorado, so keep them in mind, but the 2024 model still has everything you could want in a midsize truck.
