Upgraded Towing Capabilities

Here’s the good news: The 2021 Chevy Silverado 1500 2.7L Turbo With Active Fuel Management™ engine has an improved towing capacity of 9,300-lb. which is a 2,500-lb. improvement from the 2020 Chevy Silverado 1500 with the same engine (6,800-lb.).

The 2021 Duramax 3.0-Liter Turbo Diesel engine also gets a 200-lb. improvement with a 9,500-lb. towing capacity over the 2020 version which had a 9,300-lb. maximum towing capability.

But there’s also a bit of slightly not-so-good news as the maximum towing capacity of the 2021 Chevy Silverado 1500 with a 6.2L V8 engine drops by 100-lb. at 13,300-lb. compared to the 2020 6.2L V8 engine with a 13,400-lb. towing capacity. The slight decrease in towing specs is brought about due to changes in the content and design of the newer model. 

Upgraded Trailering Tech

The Chevrolet Silverado 1500 already boasts topnotch trailering tech but the 2021 model added more amazing features. Now, the 15-view rear camera comes with a trailer length indicator, a new cargo bed view, and a jackknife alert. It also has a new split-view camera that helps when you drive in reverse as well as assisting guidelines for the rear trailer view.  

Standard Safety Features

One of the top safety tech offered by Chevrolet is the Forward Collision Warning with Automatic Emergency Braking. This feature can be very helpful because it warns you if you are too close to a vehicle so you can avoid a potential collision. In older models, this feature was only offered as an option on upgraded models, but now it has become a standard safety feature on all 2021 Chevy Silverado 1500 models.
